Quick start

Get started with Maru

Play a plugin, remix a module in Studio and connect with other creators.

Start with something you want to do: play an instrument, find a sound for a track or create an effect of your own. You do not need to understand the Engine to begin.

If you want an orientation first, How Maru fits together connects the tools, content and creation paths.

Try a plugin

Browse plugins, open a product that interests you and read its description. Where a playable preview is offered, start playback at a comfortable level and try a preset. See using plugins for inputs, controls and downloads.

Find sounds for your music

Explore Sounds for samples, instruments, kits and packs. Play instruments and kits with the official Maru Sampler, or create a bank from your own recordings in Studio. Samplers and banks explains how the sounds become a playable instrument.

Remix an existing module

An existing instrument or effect can be a useful starting point and a source of inspiration. Browse modules or community modules, try something that interests you and imagine what you would change.

  1. Open the module's page and choose Edit a copy or Remix when offered.
  2. Sign in if prompted, then follow the action into your own Studio project. Read any explanation of the starting point before creating it.
  3. Ask the agent for one change, such as “give this instrument a softer attack” or “turn this delay into a spacious rhythmic effect.”

New Studio module projects start with public visibility. Review visibility before adding private recordings or source. Presets, remixes and sharing explains what gets copied and which permissions you need.

Create an instrument or effect

Open Studio to work with an agent specialized in audio. Describe what you want to make, such as a bass instrument for live performance or a delay that leaves vocals clear. Create a plugin with an agent takes you from that idea to shaping its sound, controls and intended use.

Set up your profile and meet creators

Visit Edit profile to add your name, picture and a short introduction. Browse Creators, visit their profiles and follow people whose work inspires you. Your profile and community explains editing, following and sharing your profile.

Choose the notifications and emails you want to receive. Account settings also brings together your plan, usage and connected tools.

Use and share your creation

Bring your creation into a track, let people play it on the web or prepare a product for others. Publishing and exports helps you choose the delivery path; apps and integrations connects it to DAWs, games and other products.

Some actions require sign-in or early-access permissions. If an option is unavailable, check its message before starting the same task elsewhere.
