About

Felucca turns the FM-1 into a multi-engine instrument: FM, virtual analogue, phase distortion, samples, granular, drums and physical models, played across four tracks with a step sequencer, song mode and a modulation matrix.

Most other open FM-1 firmwares started as forks of it. The author publishes a web installer, a web editor and a browser emulator.

Install and safety

Beta. The author marks this release as beta.

Coming after hardware verification. Maru will offer installs only after its own installer has completed a full install and restore on a physical M-VAVE FM-1, and only for open-source releases whose authors have been told.

  • Put the unit on stock V15 first, and keep your own copy of the stock file from M-VAVE’s downloads (opens in a new tab) so you can go back.
  • Back up your presets with the current firmware’s own export before installing.
  • Rescue: none documented for this firmware.
  • If something goes wrong, follow the recovery ladder.
  • Returns to stock through M-VAVE's M-UPGRADE.
  • The author also ships a Python install script for computers without Web MIDI.
