Call for developers

New plugins. New players.

Build the plugin nobody has made yet, and put it in front of people who never open a DAW: one link in a browser, on a phone, on hardware. We build it with you, free for design partners.

Pitch your idea

What could you build?

The ideas that were never worth the plumbing.

Every developer has a plugin they never built because formats, interfaces and ports would eat the year. Maru handles those, so the strange idea gets made. A few directions we’d love to explore with you:

Plugins people play by link

Send a link and someone is playing your instrument a second later, on a laptop or a phone. No installer, no DAW, no licence key.

Instruments that aren't keyboards

Play with your voice, a camera, your phone’s motion or an MPE controller. Gestures that were too much work to support before.

Sounds that match a reference

Load a sound you love and let the plugin find the settings that get you there, then keep tweaking by hand.

One idea, every place music happens

The same source as a desktop plugin, a browser toy, a pedal or a box on a Daisy board. Build it once, meet players wherever they are.

What you get

Your DSP, in more hands.

Players you couldn’t reach

A link anyone can play, featured on Maru and easy to share. Musicians who would never install a plugin can try yours in seconds.

We build it with you, free

Interface, builds, formats, targets and testing are on us. You spend your time on the sound and the idea.

A launch, if you want one

Store page, release builds and a feature across Maru’s channels. Sell it, give it away or keep it private. It’s yours.

Numbers you can trust

Every build comes with measurements: CPU, latency, memory and real-time safety. Including the unflattering ones.

Already shipped a plugin?

Bring it along. New players are waiting.

Your existing plugin can reach the browser, phones and hardware too. We move it to Maru with you, JUCE and C++ projects included, and you keep your code.

You get a playable link to share with new players, and a full report comparing it with your original, so you can judge the result yourself.

How it works

Bring the idea. We do the heavy lifting.

  1. 01

    Pitch your idea

A new instrument, a strange effect, or a plugin you’ve already shipped. A few sentences are enough.

  2. 02

    Build it together

We prototype fast and keep you in every decision. You shape the DSP and the sound.

  3. 03

Put it in front of players

Share the link, launch it on Maru, or ship it as a plugin. Watch who plays it.

  4. 04

    Tell us what’s wrong

Your honest critique decides what we fix first. Publish it if you like.

Questions.

Does it cost anything?

No. Design partners get the building work, builds and support for free. In return we ask for honest feedback.

Who owns what we make?

You do. We never publish your code, plugin or results without your agreement.

Can I bring an existing plugin?

Yes, including JUCE and C++ projects. We’ll bring it to the browser, phones and hardware with you, and you keep your code.

Can I work on closed-source code?

Yes. We can work privately, and sign a confidentiality agreement if you need one.

Is this AI-generated code?

We use AI-assisted tools, then check everything by ear, with automated audio tests and with you. You’ll see exactly what was generated and how it was verified.

What if Maru isn’t good enough yet?

Then tell us, publicly if you like. That’s exactly what we need to hear.

What would you build?

Share some links to your work and the plugin you’d love to make, or the one you’d like to bring to new players. We’ll review it and get in touch.
