Pitch-class sequence

An ordered line of pitch classes without fixed octaves. Choose registers to turn it into MIDI notes.

Edit pitch and time independently

A line combines ordered pitches with durations. Its rhythm keeps only the time pattern; its point sequence keeps relative pitch movement without a fixed register. Transposing shifts sounding notes while both abstractions stay the same.

The sequencer pattern uses Strudel duration weights: a two-beat event occupies twice the cycle span of a one-beat event.

Order only, no durations: comma-separated pitch classes (0–11).

beats

Timed notation: comma-separated pitchClass:duration pairs (pc 0–11), duration in beats (quarter = 1). Use 'r' for a rest.

  • 0:1,2:0.5,4:0.5,5:2

  • 2:1,5:1,9:2

ticks

MIDI-like: pitchClass:duration pairs with the duration in MIDI ticks (default 480 PPQ).

Absolute time: pitchClass:duration pairs with the duration in milliseconds (default 120 BPM).
