# Presets, remixes and sharing

> Save a sound, remix an existing module in Studio and share your own version.

A preset is a saved sound configuration for a particular tool. A copy of a project lets you change the tool itself. Choose the one that matches what you want to preserve or share.

## Save a sound

Use the preset or save controls available in the host. Give the result a name that describes its musical use. If it depends on a sample or bank, keep that content available too. Adding a module to your favorites saves a link to the module, not the sound settings you have changed.

Compatibility depends on the instrument and its version. A preset from one plugin is not a universal sound file. Use an audio export when the recipient only needs the recorded result.

## Find a module to remix

Browse [modules](https://maruaudio.com/modules) and [community modules](https://maruaudio.com/community/modules) for instruments and effects that suggest an idea. Try the sound, explore the controls and read the description. You might want a small variation, a simpler interface or a new instrument built from the same starting point.

On a catalog module page, use **Edit a copy**. On another creator's module, use **Remix**; on your own community module, the action is **Duplicate**. Sign in when prompted. If copying is unavailable, read the explanation on the page: the project needs editable source and permission to remix it.

## Open your version in Studio

The action creates a project you can edit in [Studio](https://maruaudio.com/studio), leaving the original intact. For catalog modules, read the starting-point explanation first: it may offer the module's source, an adapted version or a simpler template inspired by it.

A community remix starts from the source in the project's current saved revision and records its origin. The source can differ from the version currently offered as a download. The original release, sales listing and assets outside that revision are not automatically part of your copy.

New Studio module projects, including remixes, start with public visibility. Review visibility before adding material you do not intend to share. [Content rights and visibility](https://maruaudio.com/help/content-rights-and-visibility.md) explains what others may receive.

## Make the idea your own

Start with one change you can judge: a warmer tone, a different response to playing or fewer controls for a particular performance. Tell the assistant what you want to keep as well as what you want to change. Then try the relevant sound or controls and save a revision.

Remixing can also lead to a different product. An effect might inspire an instrument's sound, or a detailed instrument might become a focused performance tool. Develop that idea by [creating with an agent in Studio](https://maruaudio.com/help/studio-quick-start.md), then explore [building an instrument or effect](https://maruaudio.com/help/building-instruments-and-effects.md) for the choices that shape the product.

Keep required attribution and review the source's license before distributing or selling your version. The connection to the original helps people understand where the work began; it does not replace the license.

## Share the intended experience

- Send a playable link when someone should try the sound in a browser.
- Share a preset when they already have the compatible instrument and assets.
- Export audio or a bank when they need content for another workflow.
- Publish source only when you intend to let others inspect or adapt the project under its terms.

[Publishing and exports](https://maruaudio.com/help/publishing-and-exports.md) connects those choices to delivery. For an artist page or lesson, [website embeds](https://maruaudio.com/help/embed-audio-on-your-website.md) can keep a playable example beside the explanation.

Visit the original creator's profile to explore more of their work. [Your profile and community](https://maruaudio.com/help/profile-and-community.md) explains how to follow them and introduce your own creations.
