Choose a connection based on where you want to make music. To use a sound in a session, you may only need an audio or MIDI file. To play an instrument inside another application, you need a compatible plugin or a developer integration.

## Music applications and DAWs

An installed plugin lets a supported instrument or effect run inside a compatible DAW. Audio, MIDI and bank files move musical content between applications in different ways. [DAW integration](https://maruaudio.com/help/daw-integration.md) explains these options.

## Assistants and connected tools

An assistant can use Maru's hosted connector when its client supports the connection and your account grants the needed access. This can connect conversation to project work or hosted services.

[Using Maru with an assistant](https://maruaudio.com/help/using-maru-with-agents.md) is the user introduction. [Permissions](https://maruaudio.com/help/connected-apps.md) covers what to check before granting access.

## Installed tools and helpers

[Desktop tools and helpers](https://maruaudio.com/help/desktop-tools-and-helpers.md) separates installed plugins, local project tools, the agent skill, desktop Studio and the developing local plugin bridge. Choose the component for the task instead of assuming every workflow requires the full toolchain.

## Websites and creative platforms

Put an available player beside a product or lesson, or integrate an instrument into your application's audio path. [Embedding instruments, effects and racks](https://maruaudio.com/help/embed-audio-on-your-website.md) explains the difference.

For a connected musical product, [creator apps](https://maruaudio.com/help/creator-apps.md) covers Maru sign-in and permissions. [Generative product options](https://maruaudio.com/help/generation-in-your-products.md) explains how sounds reach the instrument.

## Game engines and interactive software

Use the Unity FX, Unreal FX and TD FX packages under [Integrations](https://maruaudio.com/apps#integrations) to explore effects in Unity, Unreal Engine or TouchDesigner. [Game audio and creative tools](https://maruaudio.com/help/game-audio-and-creative-tools.md) connects each package to a first scene or interactive project, alongside prepared assets and generation use cases.

## Controllers and hardware

[Controllers, pedals and hardware](https://maruaudio.com/help/hardware-and-controllers.md) distinguishes playing through a MIDI device from running a product on that device. Running an effect on a pedal requires work for that exact device; connecting a MIDI keyboard does not.

## Bring Maru into another product

Use the [Apps directory](https://maruaudio.com/apps) for public downloads and availability. DAW makers can start with [audio software integration](https://maruaudio.com/help/daw-and-audio-software-makers.md); other organizations can use [Maru for teams](https://maruaudio.com/help/enterprise.md). [Developer concepts](https://maruaudio.com/help/developer-concepts.md) links the implementation references.
